birthday bunting & rainbow confetti

Henry's 2nd birthday party was a simple affair. With Maira barely a month old and myself not quite recovered from surgery, a big bash was out of the question. I didn't want to miss the occasion altogether, though, so we ordered some Filipino picnic favorites (pancit, fried chicken and lumpia) and a strawberry shortcake from the always wonderful Lark, and enjoyed it all with some family and friends at a nearby park.
The night before I had energy to put together a few special details to add a bit of color to the day. I made birthday cake bunting by printing on Avery mailing labels, cutting them into little ribbon flags and folding them over some brown bakery twine. The party favor labels, with a confetti design inspired by Joke were created very much the same way. Inside the bags were snacks, stickers, bubbles, and one tiny token chosen specially for each pint-sized party-goer. Last but not least, I made thank you notes to match.
